Seriously, SewStylish?

Just because you find several cute trims doesn't mean you should use them all at once.

Yikes! That is scary.

oh, haha I see what you mean. They're just slapped on all over that tank.

Susan said...

Ouch! That is not cute at all. Crafting gone bad.....

Wow, yeah. That looks like the trims aisle vomited all over that top.

Lisette M said...

Very scary, what are they thinking?

Leslie said...

LOL. I saw that cover earlier and thought 'oh a new sew stylish!', not bothering to look at what they did to that poor tank.

Since they mention Daniel V on the cover, it only seems right to quote His Majesty Tim Gunn & say "That's a lot of look." And none of it's good!

Agreed :)

that top would be cute without ANY trim, or maybe just the stuff on the very bottom, but as is it looks kind of like someone who buys bedazzlers got loose in the scrap lace bin.

...just because you have trims doesn't mean you have to use them all at the same time...that top really needs some editing!

It's like the notions isle of the store exploded all over her shirt. What were they thinking?

I laughed so hard I cried. Even I'm not so bad that I'd do something like that... Hooo!

Johanna Lu said...

Oh no, that's so so wrong, I think they forgot the exclamation marks on Stylish

I saw that and figured that it was the illustration for an explanation post on different types of trims.

Now that's a oops! And on the cover, no less.
I love this shade of blue, though. I'm definitely making a top in this shade for spring!

Ha! I figured it was a trend that I just didn't "get".

hahah! This reminds me of their fugly painted coat a few issues ago...

cidell said...

why would they do that?

Berry said...

OH NOOOOO ! Now I'm gonna have trims nightmare!!!

Jenny said...

That’s hideous! That picture creates a bad impression of home fashion sewers!

Little Hunting Creek said...

My mom used to say when I was a teen, "now go take most of that jewelry off" ...same rule applies for trim :)

Dawn said...

That's fuuuuunny.

It's too bad, really. Someone is going to see that and shake their head while they feel bad for us.

I can hear the comment now, "Oh wow, did you make that dress?" Just what every fashion-forward, you-better-not-know-that-I-made-this, custom garment sewist wants to hear. That cover is just unbelievable.

OUch. It looks homemade. So sad.

It might be just me, but that big one round her middle looks like a line of angry bulldogs.

bbitce said...

LOL...this is why crafters get a bum rap!

Is it me, or has Sew Stylish really fallen off? What happened to their pattern features? That top is...uh...very crafty... :-D
