After my initial concern about the front pleats in my muslin, I decided to add about half an inch of ease to the bodice just by sewing the seams a bit more narrow. And as you can see, no more pointy pleats!
Fabric
Fashion fabric: Military green wool flannel (or something similar) from the Pacific Fabric Outlet
Lining: Bemberg rayon
Alterations/design changes
The center back seam is cut as a long straight line. (An invisble zipper is inserted in this seam). This straight line caused "gaposis" at the back of the neckline, so I curved the seam at the top, taking out about an inch from each side.
Conclusion
I am seriously loving this dress. I'd considering making this one again in a summer/warm weather fabric next year.
