Actually, I have been doing some sewing research.... home dec! We have a new fireplace hearth and some new living room furniture, so the drapes need some sprucing up. I am tired of the poly "silk-look" drapes we've had for several years. I was originally thinking of replacing them with a different color of silk dupioni, but then I found this fabric and fell in l-o-v-e. It's actually from Pottery Barn. Fashion Fabrics Club sold it for a while, but unfortunately I wasn't quick enough for their super low price. Thankfully I found it at House Fabric for a reasonable price. I read all about how to make pinch-pleat drapes when I thought I would use dupioni, but now that I have this medium-weight cotton woven print, I'm thinking I should do something else, like an inverted pleat. Riveting, I know! I have a few books on hold at the library that will help. I'll keep you posted...

I'm going to be on a home dec kick soon myself. I also need to replace the silk look curtains in my bedroom. Must. Block. Light.
That fabric is wonderful and will look great as drapes! I've been in a little bit of a sewing rut myself, I think it's the warm weather that is keeping me outside instead of in front of my sewing machine.
Love that fabric for curtains! Well, I love it for a shift dress, too, but it will make nice curtains.
Yes, I recognized this fabric right away! I almost got a Pottery Barn rug in the same print. Can't wait to see what you do with it!

Hi Claire - I was thrilled when the Ikea here started selling fabric. For some reason my city was excluded until recently. I think I spent about 30 minutes looking at all the prints, much to the annoyance of my husband...

I'm also in for a slew of home dec sewing soon as I'm moving, into a space completely different from (and much much prettier than) what I currently have. So thanks a bunch for the suggestion of inverted box pleat drapes. I'd never thought of doing that with drapes before, but a mental image instantly sprang to mind when I read that, and I liked it!
I'm actually ITCHING to jump into a whole bunch of sewing, but with the move at the end of the month, and it being a 3000km one (why does Canada have to be so big?) I don't think I'll get as much time in beforehand as I'd like.
I do certainly know what you mean though about not being in the mood/groove/whatever - especially when you're so close to being finished something, but just can't make yourself do it.
