Motivated again

My quilted jacket was on the verge of becoming a UFO, but I revived it this weekend. The issue was the collar (my fault, not the drafting...). The collar stand is sort of a crescent shape, and I just eyeballed the seam allowances when stitching the collar to the collar stand. It ended up being too big to fit on the jacket (because I sewed the SAs at the ends too small), and after much fiddling I ended up cutting a new collar and stand, thread basting the stitching lines, and resewing. Now it all fits together nicely.

All that's left to do is rip out and restitch that left sleeve (easing the sleeves is not an easy task), attach the right sleeve, then attach the lining.

But now I'm distracted because my December BWOF came in the mail today! It has never come on the first day of the month. Usually it comes around the 7th. I thought I still had another week to focus solely on the quilted jacket. Anyway, I'll still do that, as I'm hoping to have it done by the weekend when I'm able to take some daylight pics.

You're much better than me. I think I would have wadded it up and called it a day. But it's turning out beautifully!

I was shocked to see my BWOF yesterday too. Maybe then got a new fulfillment house... Whatever the reason, it's great to get it early!

I was wondering what had happened to your jacket, it's looking good well done for fixing it. My BWOF arrived early in HK too, Santa came early this year!

The jacket turned out great! Good job working with such a tough fabric.

BTW, my Burda arrived yesterday too - it hasn't come on the first in a LONG time!

I am feeling let down - my BWOF hasnt arrived yet. Probably just as well as I am working on stuff from the Patrones magazine that I should finish . The Jacket looks really good so far. Looking forward to seeing you model it.

funny, I had a dream last night that my BWOF came in the mail - maybe it did! I am a terrible person and spent all this money on a BWOF subscription and have yet to make anything except for a dress which ended up being a total wadder. I'm very impressed with your productivity.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this jacket comes out. I'm starting sewing classes and wanted to know how long would it take for me to follow a paatern on my own?

Hi Christine - how exciting that you are starting sewing classes. If you choose a simple envelope pattern with instructions, like Simplicity, Butterick, or even Burda, you should be able to follow a pattern on your own right away. They usually have good illustrations for each step. Just look for patterns that are rated "easy". That's basically how I learned!

Hi Columbia Lily - I completely forgot that UCU is this weekend! I have been before but I wasn't planning to go this year...
