A mum for my Mum


When I saw Peacock Chic's version of the Amy Butler Snow Mum pillow this past winter, I specifically thought, "that would be a great gift for my mom." Thankfully that memory resurfaced in time for her birthday this week.

I followed the pattern directions exactly, even purchasing Wonder Under for the first time ever (to fuse 2 layers of fabric together before cutting the petals). The wool felt at my local fabric shop was twice the width that AB gives yardage for, so it wasn't as crazy expensive as I initially thought it would be, thank goodness.


I finished the flower with a vintage shell button; a few of the other versions I've seen online have a button and I like it better this way.

I removed the pillowcase from the 18" pillow form before taking it to the post office and smashing it all in to a Priority Mail flat rate box, which I do not recommend doing, by the way. Anyway, it's an easy project and I'd like to make one for my home, too.
