Mini-vacay

I'm headed for Vancouver, BC, early Friday morning, and returning Sunday afternoon. We are taking the train this time (Amtrak). How fortunate that I received new issues and Threads and BWOF in the mail today!

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Have a fun trip! I haven't been to Vancouver in ages and how fun to ride the train up. Enjoy your new reading too.

Hope you had a great trip!
I also have a question for you - I am in the market for a new machine - I currently have a Singer that is about 15 years old and does the job, but I just want something 'better.'

I'm interested in two needles for top-stitching, but I don't need 4 or four bobbins. I have a serger. I'd like basic embroidery, but it doesn't need to be hardcore embroidery (monograms, basic floral patterns) Drop in bobbin, free arm, easy threader are all pretty obvious.

What do you use? What do you suggest? I use a Singer 4830 in one of the labs at FIT and I do like that, but I want to see what else is on the market and what other sewers use/lust after.

I don't want to spend a fortune, but I don't want a cheapo machine either.

Please help! I trust your judgement! Thanks!!!!
